Eric Clapton celebrated his 70th b-day on May 1, hooking up with some famous friends at Madison Square Garden, including John Mayer, Jimmie Vaughan, Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall. “I want to thank you for helping me celebrate,” Clapton told the crowd. “This is the best birthday I ever had.” The set list included cuts from his days with Cream, Blind Faith, as well as his lengthy solo career. Clapton scheduled two dates at MSG (May 1 and 2), and will pick up at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 14 for seven nights. Clapton has played nearly 200 shows at Albert Hall and will cross the milestone during his upcoming run.
