Billy Joel set the record for most appearances ever at NYC’s Madison Square Garden after playing his 65th show on Wednesday, July 1. Prior to the gig, Joel was tied with Elton John with 64 performances apiece at the venue. In honor of the accomplishment, MSG officials dedicated a banner to Joel, which will now hang in the arena’s rafters alongside those of legendary New York sports heroes. On hand was King of Queens star Kevin James who presided over the banner raising ceremony. “We love you Billy,” said James. “Let’s have another 65!” In recognition of Elton, Joel played “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” dedicating the song to his friend. Joel played for over two hours busting out hits like “Uptown Girl,” “Honesty,” “Sometimes a Fantasy,” “New York, New York,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and “Only the Good Die Young.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
