Eddie Hardin, former Spencer Davis Group and Axis Point member, has died at the age of 66. Hardin first released a single with A Wild Uncertainty in the mid-1960s before he joined the Spencer Davis Group. During this time the lineup of the Spencer Davis Group was in the midst of changing after Steve Winwood and his brother Muff left the group. While Hardin was in the group they released their 1968 album, With Their New Face On. Not long after Hardin and drummer Pete York departed from the band and formed their own ensemble, Hardin & York. Later both Hardin and York returned to Spencer Davis Group and recorded 1973’s Gluggo and 1974’s Living in a Back Street. Once again the two members disbanded from the group and reunited as Hardin & York, although this ended in the late 1970s, leading Hardin to help form the group Axis Point. Hardin also had a brief solo career releasing albums, such as 1985’s Eddie Hardin & Zak Starkey’s Musical of Wind in the Willows and 2000’s Just Passing Through. Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
