Styx lead vocalist and keyboardist, Lawrence Gowan, announced that the band is working on a new studio album. In a recent interview for the National Post, Gowan explained, “There’s a whole new Styx record of original material that we’re working on right now, that’s pretty close to completion.” The last Styx studio album of original material was Cyclorama, which was released in 2003. This album marked Gowan’s debut as a full time member of the band-replacing former keyboardist and vocalist Dennis DeYoung. While the group is hard at work on a new album, they are not forgetting their roots. Gowan told the National Post that he is “cognizant that when you have a body of work like Styx does, the audience wants to hear that. And it takes more than a couple of hours to do just that.
