Stevie Wonder is the most recent artist featured in the PBS series Blank On Blank, according to Rolling Stone. The interview included in the installment is from 2005 and has him speaking on his autobiographical song “I Wish,” which comes from his 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life. He also mentioned the nickname he was given at age 12 by the Temptations, which was “Nappy Wonder.” “In America, African-Americans say that if your hair is real coarse, we call it nappy, nappy hair . . . And so I remember once I woke up on the bus and the Temptations were there and I was half-asleep and I said ‘my hair hurts me,’ and Paul Williams said, “Your hair is so nappy, it hurts your head.’ . . . So they used to call me ‘Nappy Wonder.'” This installment of Blank On Blank is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life on September 28. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
