Bruce Springsteen offered up a special tribute performance for outgoing President Barack Obama. The unannounced gig took place at the White House on January 12 and The Boss offered up a solo, all-acoustic performance conceived specifically as a treat to Obama’s staff. The set consisted of 15 songs and took place in the White House’s East Room. The event held about 250 White House staffers. He offered up many of his most beloved tracks including “Born In the USA,” which he explained was a protest song and regretted that it has been misunderstood as a patriot anthem.
