Sting and Wayne Shorter have been named Polar Music Prize Laureates for 2017. The pair will both travel to Sweden where they will receive the prize from His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Stockholm Concert Hall on June 15. Both have released statements on the honor with Shorter first noting: “I first traveled there in 1959 with Art Blakely’s Jazz Messengers. My first impression was that it was like being in a storybook. We played concert halls in Stockholm and Gothenburg and then the tour continued in Norway, France and Germany.” Sting added: “I still maintain a childlike curiosity about music, along with a sense that I constantly need to work at it,” said the British musician. “So to be recognized in this way is truly meaningful. I am looking forward to coming to Sweden in June for this special evening.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
