American Idol Still Wants Elton John »
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe says that Elton John is still his top choice to fill the judge's seat left by the departing Ellen DeGeneres. In a recent interview with NYMag.com, the producer says that they may have landed the "Rocket Man" star if it wasn't for his busy schedule. "I must say, I really do love Elton John. He's a huge favorite of mine," Lythgoe said, adding that scheduling conflicts were "always the problem."

MJ And The Beatles Candidates For VH1's Top Artist Pick »
Michael Jackson and the Beatles are among those that could be named by VH1 as the top musical act of all time. Starting on September 6, the channel will begin a countdown of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time with a series of hour-long specials. VH1 has already revealed artists number 5 through 20. It has also revealed the candidates for the top spot: the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones.

Ray Davies Assembles All-Star Ensemble For New Album »
Ray Davies has a new disc in the works, and a star-studded cast of rock and rollers will be lending a hand to the former Kinks frontman. Davies' new album, currently without a title, will feature cameos from Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, among others. Singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams and Big Star's late Alex Chilton are also contributors, according to Davies' official Web site.

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev sat down with U2 front man Bono for tea last week, as the sunglassed singer prepared for the group's first ever Moscow concert. During the meeting, Bono and Mendvedev chatted on world issues as well as classic rock, reports suggest. Sources say the president told Bono that, "You are doing important things, because taking care of people is not only a job for politicians."

Aerosmith To Release Archival Material? »
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton says the band may dip into its vast archive of unreleased material for a new album in the near future. During a recent interview with Newark, New Jersey's Star-Ledger, Hamilton states that Aerosmith has wanted to open up the archives for a long time but a few hurdles have prevented them from doing so. "That's something we really want to do . . . But record contracts can limit what you do," he says in the interview.
