Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood is the latest to take the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, posting a video of the dousing online. Wood has in turn nomintated Rod Stewart, Woody Harrelson and his son Tyrone to follow suit.
So far, the ALS IBC has raised over $78 million in donations compared to $2.5 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 25).
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
The ALS Association's mission "includes providing care services to assist people with ALS and their families through a network of chapters working in communities across the nation and a global research program focused on the discovery of treatments and eventually a cure for the disease."
