Rare photos of Van Halen’s appearance at the Rocklahoma festival on September 6, 1980 have been discovered by the Van Halen News Desk. The pics see Eddie Van Halen rocking out with fronter David Lee Roth. Also on the bill that day was future VH singer Sammy Hagar, along with Pat Benatar, and the Doobie Brothers. According to the VH News Desk, the metal gods were the biggest draw of the day: “All we’ve heard is that the attendance was 28,000, Van Halen got the biggest crowd reaction by far, most of the crowd left after Van Halen’s set, and the Doobie Brothers played a fine but anticlimactic set.” Van Halen played the set in support of their third album, Women and Children First, and the set included the non album cut “Bright Lights, Big City.” Copyright(c) 2014 RTTNews.com.
