Bob Dylan is streaming his new track “Stay With Me,” taken off of his forthcoming Shadows in the Night, a collection of standards often associated with Frank Sinatra. NPR is streaming the song, calling it, and Dylan’s performance “weird and kind of wonderful. Here’s a man clearly in love with the Great American Songbook and despite his restricted vocal he’s brave enough to tackle it.” “Stay with Me” was originally composed by Jerome Moross as the main theme for the 1963 film, The Cardinal. Lyrics were later added by Carolyn Leigh, who co-wrote three of Sinatra’s most-loved songs, “Witchcraft,” “The Best is Yet to Come” and “Young at Heart.” Sinatra’s version reached No. 81 in 1964 and was released on his compilation, Sinatra ’65: The Singer Today.
