Journey drummer Deen Castronovo is a busy man these days, and is set to get even busier with Journey’s upcoming Las Vegas residency and a new album from his other band, Revolution Saints. Revolution Saints is a new hard-rock band featuring Castronovo, Night Ranger bassist Jack Blades and guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio). He admits that Revolution Saints was the idea of Serafino Perugino, president of Frontiers Records. “You know, I never really had any time or the confidence to pull it off,” he tells Ultimate Classic Rock. “So when I got the call from my manager saying, ‘Hey, do you want to do this? They want you to play drums,’ at first I just thought I was playing drums. Then I found out, ‘Oh, no – you’re lead singing!’ I’m grateful to Serafino for giving me the chance to do this.” Castronovo also talked about Journey’s setlist during their residency, saying that there’s a good chance some deeper cuts will make their way into the setlist. “You know, Journey’s got over 100 tunes to choose from. Neal (Schon) is always going, ‘Man, we’ve got to keep it fresh – it’s getting boring.’ So [when that happens], we’ll throw in some of the B-sides and the deep cuts, like ‘Troubled Child.’ I’d love to do that song.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
