Rush’s upcoming 40th anniversary tour may be the last tour of its kind, according to the band. Guitarist Alex Lifeson explained that, while the band has announced that they will be undertaking a 34-city U.S. tour, it was not an easy decision to make. He told Toronto radio station Q-107 recently, “We’d been working like crazy for five years. After the last tour we were exhausted and we decided to take a year off. I think over this past period we’ve got to really like being home and enjoying our family time.” Drummer Neil Peart added that the decision to tour was a dilemma, as the long separation “caused pain” to his family. A press release from the band noted that, for these reasons, this would be the band’s last tour of its kind. The tour kicks off on May 8 in Oklahoma and wraps up in Los Angeles on August 1.
