Wonder launched into the impromptu top ten with number 10, “You can act like you don’t see nothing when you really do,” number 9, “you can say you didn’t see that when you did” and number 8, “you can say you don’t recognize someone even though you heard them and knew who they really were,” before skipping all the way to number 1, “you can act like Stevie Wonder and get paid.” Wonder also chatted about his current Songs in the Key of Life tour and performed his song “I Wish,” as well as “Fingertips Part 2,” at the request of Letterman, who said the song was one of his earliest musical memories.
