Iggy Pop will be coming back to the BBC with a weekly radio show. The rocker will be hosting a Friday night show every week from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on BBC Radio 6 Music, with the first show slated for April 10. He had previously taken over the airwaves for Jarvis Cocker’s spot on the show. Pop said of the news, “Having sat in for Jarvis Cocker last year on BBC Radio 6 Music, I found myself realizing how good it was for me. I hope it was good for somebody else too.” He added, “[The time slot is] kind of an edgy point right at the end of the designated work week, and I’ll try to play quite a bit of music that’s new and stimulating mixed with very old classics from the blues and jazz masters of the 1920s through to the ’50s that are a little more moody. I’m gonna think of myself as a kind of atmospheric bartender. I’ll try to do my very best.” Iggy Pop will be appearing in the upcoming film Blood Orange, in which he plays a rock legend whose idyllic life with his wife is disrupted when her ex-boyfriend begins to interfere in their lives.
