John Lennon’s former wife Cynthia has lost her battle with cancer. Lennon passed away at her home in Mallorca, Spain following what is described as “a short but brave battle with cancer.” She was 75. Her son Julian Lennon was said to be at her bedside throughout and has asked for privacy at the difficult time. A message on his website said his mother died “following a short but brave battle with cancer.” It continued, “Her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout. The family are thankful for your prayers. Please respect their privacy at this difficult time.” Cynthia married John in 1962 after meeting him at college in Liverpool. The couple had their first, and only, child Julian in 1963. They divorced in 1968 after John met Yoko Ono. After divorcing Lennon, Cynthia remarried three times, and in 1978 published her autobiography, A Twist Of Lennon. She later published John, a new biography of her former husband, in September 2005.
