Bassist Craig Gruber, who performed in Rainbow, Elf and alongside Gary Moore, has passed away at the age of 63 after a battle with prostate cancer. Gruber was part of a pair of Elf releases, 1975’s Trying to Burn the Sun and 1974’s L.A. 59 before joining Rainbow and performing on their 1975 debut Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. After he was let go from Rainbow following the band’s debut, Gruber also toured with Gary Moore in support of the album Victims Of The Future and appeared in the 1984 live LP, We Want Moore. Later in his career Gruber would go on to form the band Bible Black with fellow former Rainbow member Gary Driscoll.
