Neil Young is streaming his latest album The Monsanto Years ahead of its release next week. NPR is hosting the stream of the nine-song set which has been described as an “ecologically / environmentally focused” work. NPR writes that Young is “a chronicler of his times, and there’s so much going on in the world, from the erosion of basic freedoms to the erosion of the soil, and he feels a responsibility to sound the alarm.” Targets on the album include StarBucks, Monsanto and Chevron. Young will release a documentary of the making of the album, and recently screened a work in progress version of the doc, Promise of the Real, in NYC. The Monsanto Years lands June 29.
