Journey performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, opening the venue’s 2015 season with a set of recognizable anthems (“Faithfully”) and deep cuts (“City of Hope” and “Winds of March”). “We are playing for the first time with an orchestra and chorus, so we dug deep for songs that fit, that we haven’t played for a long time,” fronter Arnel Pineda told the Orange County Register. It was the first show with new drummer, Omar Hakim, who sat in for Dean Castronovo, who was recently arrested on domestic violence charges. “We thank you Omar,” Journey wrote on its Facebook page. “You did an amazing job tonight. Looking forward to all the gigs coming up.” The band previously released a statement that reads, “Journey has made the decision to have Omar Hakim play drums for the band’s upcoming U.S. concerts (Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, June 20 and the Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah on Saturday, July 4), as well as the band’s Canadian tour (July 6 – August 3), due to Deen Castronovo’s pending issues.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
