AC/DC’s Phil Rudd was sentenced to eight months of home detention in New Zealand on Thursday, July 9. The band’s former drummer previously pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to kill and possession of marijuana and methamphetamine earlier this year. “The reality, Mr Rudd, is this,” New Zealand judge Thomas Ingram said, according to Bay of Plenty Times. “I consider you badly need help with your drug problem and I consider the best way to deal with that is to give you the sentence I’ve given you here.” Rudd was originally expected to face a maximum of seven years in prison for the crime. Instead he will be under 24-hour surveillance. Ingram says if Rudd violates his home detention, which includes a rehabilitation program, he will be sent to prison. Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
