Former Runaways bassist Jackie Fuchs claims that she was raped by the band’s manager Kim Fowley. She says the rape occurred during a New Year’s Eve party in 1975 following a gig in Orange County, California, and that her bandmates Joan Jett and Cherie Currie watched without attempting to help. Fuchs, whose stage name was Jackie Fox, says she took a handful of Quaaludes and returned to her motel room to sleep. When she woke up Fowley was raping her and both bandmates looked on. “I remember opening my eyes, Kim Fowley was raping me, and there were people watching me,” she explained in a Huffington Post article. Joan Jett immediately denied the claim in an official statement saying, “Anyone who truly knows me understands that if I was aware of a friend or bandmate being violated, I would not stand by while it happened. For a group of young teenagers thrust into ’70s rock stardom there were relationships that were bizarre, but I was not aware of this incident. Obviously Jackie’s story is extremely upsetting and although we haven’t spoken in decades, I wish her peace and healing.” Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
