Blondie and Janelle Monae are among the artists whose album covers have been re-imagined by girls from Girls Rock Camp. Beth Ditto’s niece took the role of Debbie Harry for the remake of the band’s Parallel Lines cover. Photographers Carli Davidson, Holly Andres, Shelby Duncan and Melanie Aron helped transform the young campers into the rock and pop stars. Girl Rock Camp Foundation is a non-profit with 45 locations across the U.S. where young girls are encouraged to express themselves with music. The campers each learn an instrument and form a band with one another. By the end of their week at the camp, the campers will have written a song with their respective bands and performed the songs at a live venue. The photo project benefits the end-of-year grant drive for the camp. Cover art from Katy Perry and David Bowie were also reworked for the new project. Copyright(c) 2015 RTTNews.com.
