Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney were joined by the Saturday Night Live cast to give a special holiday performance of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” The performance came during the closing moments of SNL and featured help from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The Boss was on hand with the E Street Band to play two cuts from his The River deluxe reissue – “The Ties That Bind” and “Meet Me in the City,” the former cut featuring a sax solo from Jake Clemons, the nephew of the late E Street legend Clarence Clemons. Springsteen and the E Street begin their River promotional tour at Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on January 16. Each night of the River tour will be mixed for release on Live.BruceSpringsteen.net as high-quality downloads and CDs. Recordings will be available within days of each performance.
