U2’s Bono is auctioning off the opportunity for one lucky fan to join him for a bike ride around New York’s Central Park. The auction is to benefit the AIDS charity RED. Bono said that it’s the ideal treat for a charitable fan who has no need for extreme experiences. The bike ride is symbolic for Bono, who was seriously injured in a cycling accident in Central Park two years ago. The rocker underwent five hours of facial surgery after the crash but says the charity ride can serve as a good example. “Life knocks us down, we get back up”, he says in a video to promote the charity ride. “Forget about jumping out of planes, scaling Mount Everest. Join me for a bike ride and really live on the edge.” The band is currently working on their new release Songs of Experience, which will follow 2014’s Songs of Innocence.
