The Image, a short horror film featuring David Bowie, has been unearthed. The 1967 picture was the first big screen role for Bowie, and originally screened between two pornos at a London theater. The 14 minute film was recently shared via the Wall Street Journal. It features an artist painting a picture of Bowie’s character, who eventually comes alive to haunt him. The artist repeatedly tries to kill Bowie but has little luck in doing so. “Whether David had gone in on his own, I don’t know, but he said he felt really strange sitting there on his own, in this cinema with all these guys in their raincoats,” director Michael Armstrong told the WSJ. Armstrong added that Bowie once called him to tell him that The Image caused confusion for the other patrons in the theater for pornographic fare. “He thought it was hilarious,” Armstrong said.
