“The Radical Eye,” a collection of modernist photography belonging to Elton John, will go on display at the Tate Modern in London, beginning November 10, 2016. The exhibit features over 150 pieces from more than 60 artists. “It is a great honor for [husband] David [Furnish] and I to lend part of our collection to Tate Modern for this ground-breaking exhibition,” said John of his featured works. “The modernist era in photography is one of the key moments within the medium and collecting work from this period has brought me great joy over the last 25 years.” The exhibit will feature major figures in the modernist movement – Man Ray, Alexander Rodchenko, Herbert Bayer, and more. “Elton’s collection has never been shown like this before,” a rep for the Tate told the Guardian. “The amazing array of the photos he has collected enables us to create a survey exhibition of modernist photography that hasn’t happened in the UK for a long time. It means we can tell the story of this important moment in photography to a really large audience.” Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
