Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has released a cover of the Thin Lizzy cut “Emerald,” a track from his new solo covers record Origins Vol. 1. The cut features a guest appearance from Ace’s buddy Slash. “I’m really thrilled with the whole thing,” Ace told Rolling Stone of the album. “I’m excited about it, and probably somewhere down the road there’ll be a second volume.” In addition to Slash, the new album also features a collab with Frehley’s former Kiss bandmate Paul Stanley. “We’ve always been friends,” he said. “The press seems to amplify negativity. I guess it makes good copy.” Origins Vol. 1 – featuring covers of Frehley’s most prominent influences also features new versions of his classic KISS tracks “Parasite,” “Cold Gin” and “Rock and Roll Hell” – is due April 15.
