A Bob Dylan fan in Woodstock, New York, a town in which Dylan used to live, has purchased Dylan’s old phone number and used it to set up a voicemail account for fans. Seth Schiesel, co-founder of Fans.com, says that he stumbled across the old number in an old telegram he was able to purchase. “So a few weeks ago I saw this great article about this trove of Bob Dylan memorabilia from his secret archives,” Schiesel told the New York Daily Post. “One of the coolest pieces in the article that I saw was a telegram from Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda to Bob Dylan asking for permission to use a Dylan song in the classic movie Easy Rider. Now that’s cool enough as it is, a telegram about a great pop culture movie, but the thing that really hopped out at me was that Bob Dylan has lived in Woodstock, New York in the 1960’s. In the telegram it included a copy of what would have been Bob Dylan’s phone number at that time, because Western Union required you to send a telegram to a direct phone number.” Schiesel says that he called Verizon and purchased the number after finding out no one owned the number.
