Santana are streaming their latest album, Santana IV, ahead of its April 15 release. The album features a reunion of the band’s mid-1970s lineup. “We didn’t have to try to force the vibe – it was immense. From there, we then needed to come up with a balance of songs and jams that people would immediately identify as Santana,” Carlos Santana said. “When you can go back and break new ground with joy and determination – and some whoop-ass energy – it gets you going. I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn’t about nostalgia. It was about passion.” The first listen is available via NPR, which writes that the “new music [is] written in the spirit of their first blasts of percussion and fuzz tone. Santana IV captures that magic, while still updating it slightly.” The 16 track set features Isley Brothers singer Ronald Isley on two cuts. The support tour for the album begins at Upper Darby, Pennsylvania’s Tower Theater on April 9. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
