Queen guitarist Brian May says that actor Sacha Baron Cohen has misrepresented his dealings with the band. Cohen had been tapped to play the late Freddie Mercury in a biopic, but exited the production after artistic differences arose. “Sacha became an arse,” May told the Daily Mail. “We had some nice times with Sacha kicking around ideas but he went off and told untruths about what happened.” Cohen dropped out he said because the band wanted to put Mercury’s death in the middle of the film and follow it with the story of Queen’s reaction to it. “Not one person is going to see a movie where the lead character dies from AIDS and then you see the band carry on,” he said.
