Charlie Daniels, in tandem with his Journey Home Project, has donated $50,000 to a veterans organization, which raises awareness about PTSD and suicide among U.S. armed forces and vets. Daniels made the donation to Shepherd’s Men, a group of 14 vets and civilians who ran from Boston to Atlanta to raise funds for the SHARE Military Initiative, a rehab program for soldiers with traumatic brain injuries. “The men and women returning from today’s conflicts volunteered for our country, for all of us, and they return with battle scars that need our help to heal. Too many are pushed to the margins and take their own lives while the rest of us enjoy the freedom for which these veterans fought,” said a rep for Shepard’s Men. “The physical challenge of our run is nothing compared to the challenges faced by our veterans.” Daniels raised some of the $50,000 donation during his 40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam in August.
