U2 guitarist The Edge is the first rock artist ever to perform at the Sistine Chapel. He performed an acoustic set for the Cellular Horizons conference, playing the U2 tracks “Yahweh,” “Ordinary World,” and “Walk On,” along with a cover of the Leonard Cohen cut “If It Be Your Will.” “When I was asked to perform in the Sistine Chapel I didn’t know what to say, because usually there’s ‘this other guy’ who sings,” he said, referring to Bono. “So it took me at least, well, 30 seconds to agree to it.” The audience, in town for the Vatican’s conference on regenerative medicine, included “about 200 doctors, researchers and philanthropists,” according to Newsweek. The Edge, whose daughter recovered from leukemia treatment and whose father was killed by cancer, sits on the board of several cancer foundations. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
