Iggy Pop has released a new video for his “American Valhalla” single. The track is part of his joint effort with Josh Homme. The video is directed by Jamie-James Medina and stars model Ruth Bell. The images also include a boxing match and pictures of the singer. Commenting on the project, Medina said, according to Nowness, “I was listening to ‘American Valhalla’ and was reminded of this very low-key but classic fight between Dick Tiger and Gene Fullmer, which took place in Nigeria in 1963 and for whatever reason I found a connection there.” He added that Iggy’s voice reminds him of “the survivor or the last man standing,” which helped make the connection for him. Medina also said that Iggy remembers watching the 1963 fight. The track is part of Post Pop Depression, a studio album that features Iggy’s vocals and production and some instrumentation from Homme.
