Rod Stewart is set to receive a knighthood in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday, according to the BBC. The Queen is recognizing Stewart for his singing abilities, but also his charitable efforts. “I’ve led a wonderful life and have had a tremendous career thanks to the generous support of the great British public,” he said. “This monumental honour has topped it off and I couldn’t ask for anything more.” In addition to Stewart, Downton Abbey actress Penelope Wilton will receive a damehood. Other musicians who have previously been knighted include Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Van Morrison and Cliff Richard. Back in 2007 Stewart was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by the Queen. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
