Guns N’ Roses paid tribute to the victims of the Orlando night club shooting during a recent stop on their reunion tour. The band gave their tribute in the form of a video posted ahead of their show in Orlando and included the note “49 Roses . . . We Are Orlando.” The tribute marks a considerable change in tenor for the band in terms of the LGBT community. Axl Rose drew sharp criticism from LGBT activists back in the late 1980s after telling Rolling Stone he’d “had some bad experiences with homosexuals.” “I’m not against them doing what they want to do as long as it’s not hurting anybody else and they’re not forcing it upon me,” he said in 1989 after the band had released a track with racial and homophobic language.
