Pete Townshend has revealed plans to release a replica of the guitar he famously smashed on stage with The Who. The rock icon has teamed with Gibson for a recreation of his 1976 Gold Top model, which he demolished on stage at the band’s 1976 performance at the Boston Garden. The remnants of the original now reside in the London’s Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Videos of the moment on stage are currently available on YouTube and it has served as a historic moment in rock history, partially credited with starting the phenomenon of guitar smashing. Only 150 of the limited edition guitars will be released and they will include a tongue and cheek “break here” instruction set. The instrument features a classic gold top finish and mini-humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions sandwiching a Gibson “zebra” humbucker. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
