The forthcoming Ray Burdis film, To Be Someone is set at a time 35 years after Quadrophenia. The film will feature some of the original cast from Quadrophenia and is intended to show what the characters are doing at present time. The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has been very vocal in his opposition to the film. In an interview with the Daily Mirror Daltrey said, “It’s just someone fishing to make some money. It becomes a nonsense. The whole point of Quadrophenia was that it was a moment in time captured in a film. That moment in time is gone. It doesn’t matter what those characters are doing now. It was about what we all went through at that age.” Director Burdis claims that his film is not a sequel, but is intended to be a stand-alone film. Burdis said, “I’m sorry that The Who’s management feel affronted, as I would have loved Roger Daltrey to play a role, but there you go.” No official release date has been set for the film.
