Elton John’s photography collection will be on display at the Tate Modern. The colorful singer will be lending his black and white image collection to The Radical Eye exhibition. The singer began collecting photography when he became sober in 1990. John has the largest private collection of 20th-century photography. John said in a press release, “Photography became this incredible companion. It went hand in hand with my sobriety, which was also fresh and a release. I was like a kid in a candy store.” The show will feature photography from artists such as Andre Kertesz, Berenice Abbot, Alexander Rodchenko and many more. One of the singer’s personal favorites is Dorothea Lange’s “Migrant Mother.” The portrait hangs in John’s Atlanta apartment’s livingroom. John says it is “the ‘Mona Lisa’ of photographs.” It will be a focal point of the exhibition. The exhibit opens this week and will run until May 7. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
