Sting performed at the Bataclan on November 12. The concert was one day before the one-year anniversary of the Paris attacks in which 89 people were murdered. Sting is the first artists to perform at the Bataclan since the Eagles of Death Metal, who were performing the night of the attack. The singer began with a few words, telling the audience, “We have two tasks: to honor victims who lost their lives and to honor music and life.” Then in French, the singer said, “We will not forget them.” Then, in honor of the victims, Sting had a moment of silence before beginning his set. He opened up with, “Nothing Like the Sun,” which appears on his album Fragile. The song’s opening lyrics go, “Nothing comes from violence and nothing will.” Rolling Stone reports that over 1,500 people attended and 1,000 of those tickets sold out within the first 30 minutes of sale. The proceeds from the concert are being donated to two victims associations representing the survivors and the families of those who were killed during the attack. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
