This is actually the second time the letter has been sold at auction. It is estimated to sell for around $20,000. Lennon penned the letter in response to one that he received from McCartney’s wife Linda, who was unhappy with some comments that Lennon made to the press regarding the breakup of the Beatles. Lennon expressed his annoyance with Paul and Linda, stating, “I hope you realize what s- you and the rest of my ‘kind and unselfish’ friends laid on Yoko and me, since we’ve been together.” Lennon also stated to Linda McCartney, “I don’t resent your husband – I’m sorry for him. I know the Beatles are ‘quite nice people’ – I’m one of them – they’re also just as big bastards as anyone else – so get off your high horse!” Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
