Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr recount a pivotal moment in Beatles history in a bonus clip on the deluxe edition of the documentary Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years. The moment in question was when the young band stood up to producer George Martin and insisted on writing and recording their own songs. McCartney reveals that Martin wanted the group to perform songs that he believed were likely to become hits. The final straw seems to have been when Martin had the band record the song “How Do You Do It?” which they say received nothing but laughs when they played it for their friends. “I remember that moment so vivid that thank God we stood up for ourselves,” says Starr. “We just wanna do Lennon and McCartney songs. We actually looked him in the eye, which is very heavy for those days because he was the producer and we were the lads.” Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
