Mick Jagger has long been a fan of blues music. The album Blue & Lonesome, which Jagger and the rest of the Rolling Stones are set to release in December, was not Jagger’s first foray into the genre. He worked on a solo blues album back in 1992 that was never officially released. Jagger was working with producer Rick Rubin on a solo LP, which would eventually become Wandering Spirit, his third solo album. At the time, Rubin was also working with a band called the Red Devils, who were generating buzz among the elites in the music industry. In June of 1992, Jagger took a break from his work on Wandering Spirit and brought the band into the recording studio with him to record some of his favorite blues songs. The only song from the recording session to see an official release was the track “Checkin’ Up On My Baby,” which made it onto the compilation The Very Best Of Mick Jagger.
