The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has made an official announcement of its 2017 inductees. Journey, Yes, Joan Baez and Electric Light Orchestra are among the new inductees. They will be joined by Pearl Jam and Tupac Shakur. Nile Rodgers of Chic will also receive the hall’s Award For Musical Excellence. This is the first year that Journey has appeared on the ballot for induction. The band garnered the most fan votes to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this week. It is unclear at this time if Journey singer Steve Perry will take the stage with the rest of the band at the event. Perry did release a brief statement, saying, “I’m truly grateful that Journey is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” The 2017 induction ceremony will be held on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Ticket information for the event is expected to be revealed in January. An edited version of the event will air on HBO and SiriusXM will handle the radio broadcast. Copyright(c) 2016 RTTNews.com.
