Lynyrd Skynyrd will be amongst the performers for the upcoming tribute concert for country legend Merle Haggard. The event, which has officially been dubbed Blackbird Presents An All-Star Concert Celebration Sing Me Back Home: The Music of Merle Haggard, will take place in Nashville on April 6. Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Loretta Lynn, Dierks Bentley and Alison Kraus are all slated to perform. They will be joined by John Mellencamp, Kacey Musgraves, Jamey Johnson and Ronnie Dunn among others. The show marks what would have been Haggard’s 80th birthday. Speaking with the Tennessean, his son Ben Haggard revealed that his father predicted that he would pass on his birthday: “A week ago dad told us he was gonna pass on his birthday, and he wasn’t wrong,” Ben said at the time. “He loved everything about life and he loved that everyone of you gave him a chance with his music. He wasn’t just a country singer. He was the best country singer that ever lived.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
