A new archive dedicated to the works of Lou Reed has been announced in New York City. The archive will include various documents and sound recording from throughout Reed’s famed career and will be housed at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. News of the new archive came via New York Public Library for the Performing Arts head Jonathan Hiam: “These kinds of documents are usually in the hands of a private enterprise still, and there’s usually no financial incentive to make them available to anybody,” Hiam says. “So if you’re doing research, this is really a boon.” Music archivist Don Fleming adds: “One of the things they found was a tape from the early ’60s, which seems to be Lou with one of his high school bands rehearsing for the variety show,” Fleming says. “And just following that [clip] is Lou playing Bob Dylan songs.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com.
