The members of Lynyrd Skynyrd have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to prevent their former drummer from producing a new biopic. The suit has been slapped against Artimus Pyle, who was their drummer throughout the band’s heyday in the 1970s. Pyle announced the news earlier this year that he was planning on releasing an unauthorized documentary about the band. He quickly met stiff resistance from the families of those that died in the tragic plane crash that in 1977. The film was initially to be titled Free Bird but was quickly changed by Pyle to Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash in an attempt to dodge the suit. In their suit, the band claims that Pyle is “free to exploit his own personal life story” for the movie, according to Rolling Stone, but they say he shouldn’t tell the band’s story because it “may contain a potentially inaccurate or skewed portrayal of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s story as filtered solely through the eyes of Pyle masquerading as the ‘True Story’ of a defining moment in the band’s history.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com.
