U2 will release their next studio album, Songs Of Experience, on December 1. The Irish Sun reports that the album is being made available on that day to coincide with World Aids Day in conjunction with Project Red, an initiative set up by frontman Bono to raise funds to fight the disease. The band will release the album’s first single, “You’re the Best Thing About Me,” on September 8. Bassist Adam Clayton previously described Songs Of Experience as showing where U2 had been and where they are now. “Songs of Experience is going to be taking everything we’ve learned in the last 40 years and consolidating them into one piece of advice which we will dispense at some point.” U2 last released Songs Of Innocence in 2014.
