Former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts has opened about his storied career and also his retirement from music. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Betts says that while he wishes he could keep pushing on, it’s officially time to hang up the axe. “My career is over. It’s a little bit of burnout, a little sour grapes, a little bit like a boxer who gives it up. It’s pretty tough, to tell you the truth,” he said. “Everyone wishes they could be young forever. But I feel like I did my work, and I’m not gonna do anything that’s gonna top what I’m known for. So why don’t you just stay home?” Betts also said the he was able to bury the hatchet with Gregg Allman, who fired him from the Allman Brothers Band in 2000: “Gregg could only whisper, but we got things worked out,” Betts said. “We went through the court thing, so he thought I had it out for him. I had to let him know I didn’t. I’ve had a great life and I don’t have any complaints. I don’t know what I would’ve done to make it different. There are lawsuits I probably could have dealt with better. But so what? You do the best with your amount of time.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
