Elton John has scored his 40th top 40 album. The achievement comes with his newest release Diamonds, which debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart this week. The release also marks an extension of John’s partnership with composer Bernie Taupin. “We’ve never written a song in the same room, ever. And I always say that’s why we’ve lasted 50 years. Even from the word go, because I’m not a lyric writer, I’d have a lyric from him and a story would come to life and I would go and be inspired to write a melody to his lyric. It’s very odd. I’ve never questioned it, I’ve never said, Why is this?'” Of the greatest hits set, he adds: “We are at 50 years, and our relationship is healthier than it’s ever been. There have been times in our relationship when we’ve written with other people, but it still didn’t stop the love. I love Bernie more than I’ve ever done and I think he probably feels the same way about me, because we’ve both led separate lives; we both write in separate rooms. We have an amazing respect and love for each other that’s only grown.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
