The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band has been named as the top selling vinyl LP on 2017. The band claims the top spot with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band selling 72,000 vinyl copies. The Fab Four actually hold the top two spots on the annual list with their Abbey Road album slotting in at number two with 66,000 units sold. Elsewhere on the list, the soundtrack Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is the third biggest with 62,000, Ed Sheeran’s Divide comes in at four with 62,000, and Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black sits at number 5 with 58,000. The year 2017 marks the 12th straight year of growth in vinyl album sales, representing 8.5 percent of all album sales in 2017, which is up from 6.5 percent for the configuration’s share in 2016.
